Lyrics/Music: Joseph M. Scriven, William P. Rowlands

D G
What a friend we have in Jesus,
D A
All our sins and griefs to bear!
D G
What a privilege to carry
D A D
Ev'rything to God in prayer!
A7 D
O what peace we often forfeit,
G D Em Asus A
O what needless pain we bear,
D G
All because we do not carry
D A D
Ev'rything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged:
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our ev'ry weakness:
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Jesus only is our refuge:
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He'll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

    • Hi Sir!
Congrats on the new look of your extremely useful and helpful site. Can’t wait till all of the import is complete. Will you also be bringing the transposing keys of the song option as well? It is a very nifty tool for my family so we can get away by adjusting to our range 🙂

      • Thank you. Maybe you did not notice that transposing of keys is already there. Try the dropdown menu in the top right corner of the song (above the Print button).

        • I had meant as in the name of the key(alphabet)… But maybe I’ll try to adjust myself by transposing according to the no of tones up or down.
